A bull***t-free guide to growing your wealth, retiring early, and living life on your own terms

Kristy Shen retired with a million dollars at the age of 31, and she did it without hitting a home run on the stock market, starting the next Snapchat in her garage, or investing in hot real estate. Learn how to cut down on spending without decreasing your quality of life, build a million-dollar portfolio, fortify your investments to survive bear markets and black-swan events, and use the four percent rule and the Yield Shield - so you can quit the rat race forever. Not everyone can become an entrepreneur or a real estate baron; the rest of us need Shen's mathematically proven approach to retire decades before 65.

A great focus on practical tips wrapped in a cool story I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Quit Like a Millionaire and wow, what a great book! The personal finance arena is full of snake oil, unrealistic promises, and hype. This book is pretty much the opposite of that--practical tips along with the story of Kristy's life.Personal finance has been a hobby of mine for over a decade, so really appreciated finding the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement. (It isn’t the best acronym ... retirement isn't required, the FI part is just amazing.) Within a year I found the Millennial Revolution blog and I was impressed with Kristy & Bryce's no-nonsense guide to FI, from investing to how to withdraw money before retirement age.If you have read their blog, you will still learn a lot of Kristy's story. Also, you get her story plus all of their tips for getting to FI (and actually retiring early if you want to) consolidated into one place. If you haven’t read their blog yet, you are in for a treat! If I were introducing a friend to the FI movement and they asked for books to read, I would have them start with the classic from JL Collins ('The Simple Path To Wealth'), followed immediately by this book. The book you had been waiting for to culminate your financial education journey... This book is going to single handedly be one of the most influential in this generation. I have read close to 20 other financial books all from Ben Graham and Jack Bogle and JL Collins. This is by far the one that packs the greatest value per page. There are several concepts that other authors either don't discuss or simply expect readers to already know. This book simplifies a large amount of those concepts so that someone that hasn't read all of the other finance classics can quickly understand. I can easily see this book being a cult classic and a great gift to younger and older family members. It's rare when a book can become both a great starting point and a culmination to a private collection of financial material.Even after reading so many other books this one still illustrated tax harvesting in a more detailed manner with simple graphics. I must admit some if the graphs were not as polished as I would have liked them to be, they just simply had some of the axis with missing references (I'm an Engineer so things like that glare at me lol).Other than that this books is worth its weight in gold. Trust me it's the single greatest financial investment via a book that you could make to start a lucrative financial plan or to help someone else understand it in greater detail.I wish I could give this book to 18-year-old me As a young lad I did not 'math $#!& up'. As a result, here I am at 39 with a useless degree and a mortgaged house and an unnecessary car and various other resources allocated toward poor priorities; it's sheer dumb luck (and a fantastic wife) what got me this far. The enthralling storytelling and frameworks in this book would have been great at helping me figure out what I wanted and how to get it! I plan to give my copy to my godson when he graduates from high school in another seven years; if he follows even a fraction of its advice, he'll be in good shape.
